The Benefits of Custom Design

One of the best skills I bring to the table as an interior designer is my ability to design custom looks for my clients. From wall treatments to art to furniture to cabinetry, I deliver interiors that my clients won’t see at their neighbors’ houses or in a catalog. Those out-of-the box ideas and my creativity are what they’re paying me for! So if you’re thinking of hiring a designer like me, here are the top benefits of going with someone who can design custom looks for your home!

1. Avoid Cookie-Cutter Looks

How would you feel if you walked into your neighbor’s house and saw the same furniture that you have? Most people hire a designer to help their home stand out from the crowd, and that’s exactly what custom design does for you. In the bedroom above, I created a custom bed that has an upholstered panel inset into a beautiful textured wood. It is definitely something that my client will not find anywhere else!

2. Showcase Your Style

Adding a major WOW factor is a perfect reason to opt for custom interiors. In the powder room above, I know my client’s guests will gasp when they enter the space. That geode design on the walls was custom created and hand painted, giving this home a style all its own! Your home should highlight your personality!

3. Get a Perfect Fit

It can be impossible to find the right furniture to fit in just the right spot in your home. The dimensions usually follow an industry standard, so when you need something special it can be like looking for a needle in a haystack. When my clients wanted a big table to fit eight in their dining room, I knew it needed to be square. That’s the best fit for the space, and it really allows for great conversation among the diners. So I custom designed this 96-inch square table with baby ostrich leather insets. It is definitely the perfect fit.

4. Find the Right Solution

Custom designs can also solve any challenge you might have. In the living room of my Double U Ranch project, my clients wanted to watch television in this space, but definitely did not want the TV to be visible all of the time. That gorgeous black credenza in the back was my solution! With the push of a button, the TV rises out of the cabinet. And when my clients are done watching, it slides right back out of sight.
