4 Tips for the Best Home Bar

It’s the perfect time of the year for raising a glass and toasting to the new year! Home bars are rising to the top of home renovation lists and it’s no wonder. They offer a great place to celebrate with family and friends without having to leave your beautiful home. I love crafting these celebration stations, so here are my top 4 pro tips for crafting the perfect bar at home.

1. Plumb It

A home bar doesn’t have to take up a lot of space - it can even be in a corner or a niche in another room. But the one thing I advise for all my clients is to include a bar sink. It makes clean-up a snap and it offers an easy place to fill a glass or add a splash to a drink. This is one thing that can really elevate your bar area and it is usually very easy for your plumber to run a line to the bar.

2. Keep It Cool

The second most important part of a fabulous home bar is a fridge. Even if you don’t drink alcohol, a separate drinks fridge offers a great place to grab a soda or water without having people troop into your kitchen. But these appliances are really important if you’re serious about the temperature of your wine or beer. There are many options available, too, including zoned fridges that can keep different sections at separate temps!

3. Clean Up

If you have room, a fabulous home bar should also include a dishwasher, an ice maker, and plenty of storage for glassware and accessories. In the home bar above, I also tiled the walls to keep things neat even if there are spills and splashes.

4. Take a Seat

Finally, your home bar should be a gathering area for entertaining friends and family. So offering them a seat is the perfect way to host a soiree at your home. In my Cherry Hills project above, the barstools face a gorgeous onyx wall that’s backlit for a touch of glam.

Use these ideas to plan a home bar in your renovation plans! It can make the holidays even more fun to celebrate!

Warmly,
