My Favorite Things: Wall Treatments

One of my most popular photos - on any social media platform - is the one below. And the one thing that makes it so popular? The walls! Statement walls can draw attention in a room like almost nothing else. I love wallpaper on any wall (including the ceiling), but custom walls are so much more special. They provide a personalized look that no one else will have.

In the bathroom above, we selected a custom color for the background and then added handpainted gingko leaves in gold leaf. When the light hits the leaves, the room just glows!

In my own house, I had a very specific idea for the powder room, one that would really set it apart. So I worked with my friends at Luxe Fine Finishes to create this dreamy, watercolor look. Isn’t it fabulous?

In the guest bath above, I wanted it to be extra special, almost like a work of modern art. So I worked with the artist to carefully select the palette and a pattern that reminds me of Matisse’s Cut Outs series.

And here is the artist in action - creating a stunning pattern for the master bedroom in my Martin project. The walls are designed to soothe and relax my clients in their own personal oasis!

Those subtle handpainted details are perfect in a bedroom. They create interest, but don’t fight for attention in a room that should be restful and quiet.

Handpainted walls may take a bit more time, but they are so worth it. They give your home a very personal look that no one else will have. Custom design is so much better than cookie cutter styles!
