Behind the Scenes: My Kitchen Appliance Selections
I absolutely love to cook. So a silver lining in having to renovate our home after Hurricane Harvey is to be able to design the kitchen I’ve always wanted.
I worked with an incredible team to make my selections, specifically Corey Watts at Ferguson, and Suly Weisman and Joe Gonzales of BSHG/Thermador. Working with this amazing team, I was able to put together a plan for my kitchen that would help me bring my dream to life!
A few years ago, I was lucky enough to go to the Thermador Experience Center in Irvine, CA. And ever since then, I’ve dreamed about their steam oven - it’s incredible! And it’s the first thing I selected for my kitchen. Thermador has the only range in the market with a steam and convection combination oven, and it also has a warming drawer. One of my favorite features besides the steam oven is the extra low burners for simmering. I literally cannot wait to start cooking on this range!
For the fridge, I chose the Thermador 36-inch french door refrigerator. It is going to have custom panels to match my cabinetry, and what I really love about it is the new feature that allows the door to open with a slight push. That means you can open the fridge while holding a large tray - hands free!
The dishwasher in my new kitchen is part of Thermador’s Topaz series. It’s extremely quiet, which I’m excited about, and it has a time-remaining power beam that shines on the floor to let you know when it will be finished. There are also flexible folding tines to accommodate large pots and pans. I’ll have custom panels on the front - not the ones you see below.
As if that isn’t enough, I decided to add a few bells and whistles to the butler’s pantry, too! There’s just enough space for an 18-inch dishwasher, perfect for parties, small items, cooking utensils, and extra-long silverware. And I selected fridge drawers for the butler’s pantry - they are perfect for storing drinks, and extra fruit and veggies.
I can’t thank Corey, Suly, and Joe Gonzales enough for their help! They are the dream team, and their energy and passion for the design industry is infectious. They care about the people they’re working with and the customers they serve. I am thrilled to partner with them on my Harvey remodel project and so excited about the new Thermador products they recommended. I can’t wait to see them in my kitchen!
