People who have not worked with a designer before often ask me what my process is like. And even people who have worked with a designer may not understand that the way I work might be different from others. So I thought I’d give you an idea of the three phases of my design process.

Design and Presentation

When we first meet about your design, we will cover everything that you need for your rooms and how you want them to function for you and your family. It’s much more than just a pretty space - you should have your rooms designed perfectly for your lifestyle, too. That includes everything from where outlets are located to what type of storage you need to which rooms you use the most. We’ll talk about it all! Then I’ll present you with drawings and a presentation of fabrics, colors, and furnishings that I know you’ll love. How will I know? Because everything will be based on what you’ve said you’ve always dreamed about for your home.

We’ll also get every single shade of paint absolutely right, and I’ll be sure the stone and tile selections are exactly what we need for the perfect result.

Construction and Furnishings

Once we have all of our selections made and underway, we start on construction. Depending on the job and the state of your home, we may take the house right down to the studs. As we’re working through that, my team and I are also ordering your furnishings and also placing orders for custom designs. I often create custom furnishings for my clients so they’ll be absolutely what we need for your home.

My team and I also make job site visits regularly so we can ensure that the painting, window installation, cabinetry, flooring, and other details are done well. I love these visits - it’s when you can really see things come together!

Installation and the Big Reveal

The final phase will be your favorite! We install the furnishings in your newly renovated (or newly built!) home, adding fabulous details like art, accessories, and everything you need to enjoy your new interiors! I like to install everything and have it looking gorgeous before we do a big reveal for you and your family. Then all you have to do is relax and celebrate your new surroundings.
