A lot of people can create a good room, but what takes a space to the next level are the details. Knowing what to add to take things from good to great is what my job is all about. So here are 4 details that I think make absolutely gorgeous and wow-worthy rooms!

1. Moldings & Millwork

Adding special moldings like cove, crown, or dentil, gives a room more sophistication and interest. And so do casings, chair rails, and panel molding. All of these can create stunning architectural details in even the plainest room.

2. Original Art

Art that you can’t find anywhere else is what will give your home that unique and very personal look. It also offers a glimpse into who YOU are and what you love. Nothing will set your home apart better than fantastic art - from paintings, to sculpture, to photography.

3. Accessories and Accents

Selecting accessories and accents is actually an art, too. You don’t want to clutter up a table with a lot of pieces just to fill the space. Accessories should be chosen thoughtfully, and again should give a glimpse into who you are, where you’ve traveled, and what you like. Even books are like small clues into the things you enjoy. But again, edit carefully.

4. Statement Lighting

Having a gorgeous chandelier or pendant that really stands out will elevate the look of any room. It doesn’t have to be elaborate or over-the-top. But it should fit the decor and set a tone. That’s why I love the wooden-beaded chandelier above that I used in a coastal home. It really grabs attention, but in a quiet and understated way.
