Organizing for the New Year

Organizing is something I love to do at the new year. Many cultures believe that starting the year off with a clean and clutter-free home will bring you luck in the coming months. That’s an amazing thought, but I also just like to get things in shape to help me be more efficient and effective! Here are some ideas for cleaning up the clutter in your home.

Clean(er) Kitchen

In the kitchen, strive to keep the counters clutter-free. Visual clutter can make you tense and stressed and we all need LESS of that in 2022, right?? Organize your counters so that whatever is sitting on top is necessary and visually appealing. If you just don’t have the space in your kitchen cabinets for everything, get creative about where you store things you don’t use as often, like very large stockpots, serving dishes, and more.

Perfect the Pantry

How many times have you gone to the store for something, only to find you already had plenty of it at home?? If your pantry is organized, it will definitely help you know what’s in stock at any time, which saves you time and money. Make your pantry work FOR you by organizing it so ingredients are stored together, canned goods are in a single spot, and baking items are all together. One trick I use is a can organizer in the pantry that stores canned goods in rows that are easy to see.

Clear the Closets

The new year is the perfect time to clean out your closets! Make piles for donations and for storage. Bring in fabulous storage bins and baskets to get things organized. And definitely put your clothes together by season. That really helps you make more room, and to be able to reach for what you need in the morning!

Manage the Laundry

In the laundry room, I am a stickler for getting things organized! This room should set the mood for a clean home with lots of baskets, storage boxes, and more. One of my favorite things to use are storage containers for soaps, fresheners, and dryer sheets!

Happy New Year to your and your family! I wish you a year that’s clutter-free and fabulous!
