My Favorite Upholstery Selections

When I’m selecting seating for my clients’ homes, I always want to choose pieces that are both gorgeous and comfortable. And I help them select designs that will give them the best seat for each space. What does that mean? Let’s take a look at my very favorite upholstery selections!

Swivel Chairs

These chairs are my go-to for living rooms, dens, and family rooms because they are so versatile. They can move in one direction to watch TV and then turn easily for conversation or to enjoy a view. The swivel chairs I selected for my Cherry Hills project above are also beautiful to look at. They can stand alone in a room without being placed against a wall.

Sectional Sofa

Sectionals can be designed in so many different configurations. In a very large space, you can add as many pieces as you want to create a large seating arrangement like a U-shaped design. Or in a small space, like the one above, you can use a chaise section to add more functionality to a wall space. There’s so much to choose from, too! You can use reclining seats, loveseats, chaises, and more to create exactly what you need.

Sofa

Whether you call it a sofa or a couch, this is the workhorse for most living spaces! The key is to choose the right one for you and your family. One of the biggest decisions is the cushion configuration - in other words, do you want a single cushion (or bench seat), two cushions, or three. And here’s how you make that decision. A bench seat is great if you like to put a lot of people on a sofa at one time, because there is no gap that could be awkward for the person sitting there. The 3-cushion version is really popular because it gives 3 distinct places for people to sit and almost defines their area. If you have a smaller family and love to curl up for TV night or to read, a 2-cushion seat might be best. It gives you more room and can be best for snuggling. Another thing I ask my clients is if they like to nap on a sofa. Because if you’re lying on the seat area, a bench cushion or the 3-cushion version is going to be the most comfortable!

Use these ideas to create the very best seating for your home!

Warmly,

Beth
