House Tour: My Home Renovation

In my last blog post, I told you how long it took me to get my own home’s renovation done after a hurricane, flooding, and a tree falling on it. It’s been a lot! But I’m thrilled to finally give you a house tour of the finished spaces. Let’s take a look!

The Entry

One of the things I knew I wanted to do was to open up the entry to my home. We moved the stairs and removed the tight hallway. It’s so much more light and welcoming, especially with the steel door with windows on the upper panels.

Living Room

Of course that meant that the living room was opened up, too, which takes advantage of the floor to ceiling windows in this space. You can see a peek of it below. I’ll be shooting more photos of the living room soon, including a fireplace surround that stretches to the ceiling and beautiful painted beams. Stay tuned!

Dining Area

The dining space looks over the golf course, which offers a beautiful view with those french doors to the outside. I love mixing modern art with traditional furnishings, and I like to think out of the box. So I hung original art by Miller Quevedo on the ceiling in this space. You can just see a peek at the kitchen beyond - I’ll reveal that space in a future post.

Bathrooms

One thing I’m so excited about in this home are the many handpainted walls we created. It’s like having original art on a grand scale. The powder room is designed with waves of blue for the water. And a guest bath uses geometric shapes to make a stunning statement.

Primary Suite

In the primary suite, a gorgeous handpainted design creates a feature behind the bed. And a gallery wall of art balances the look in the room. I created a sitting area for quiet reading or conversation, and the spa bath is an oasis at the end of every day. Finally, I designed a chic closet that has a space for everything so it’s perfectly organized.

Utility Room

I always believe that every space in your house deserves style, and that includes even the most hardworking. So I used a bold yellow on this utility room and paired that with an amazing patterned tile on the floor. It gives a small room BIG personality.
