Behind the Scenes: Powder Room Selections

Working on powder rooms is always one of the fun parts of my job. I consider them little jewel boxes of the home. While they need to be functional, their number-one priority is to be pretty! For my own powder room, I’m trying to strike a note somewhere between simplicity and all-out glamour in a tiny space!

Space is tight (as you can see above), so every decision needs to be thought out extra carefully. I’m thinking of a unique wall-mounted faucet with a Carrara marble knob - sleek, minimal, yet kind of “wow.” I’m offsetting the warm Calacata counters with custom cabinets in Adagio #1593 by Benjamin Moore. It’s one of those in-between colors, a gray that could be blue, or a blue that’s very grayed out. Like I said, small space = choices for big impact, so I think a pair of these classic mid-century glam sconces by Circa should do the trick. I’m also loving the look of the floating cabinets in Benjamin’s Moore’s stock photo. Floating cabinets can do wonders to open up a small space, but of course they also reduce storage. Luckily, storage is usually not a problem in a powder room!

I’m really loving the direction my powder room is headed! Of course, now it’s my turn to become the impatient client, as construction naturally has delays. One has two choices during renovation: get frustrated about delays you have no control over, or accept the construction laws of physics and focus on the end product, not the time it takes to get there! I’m going to try very hard to do the latter!

Warmly,

Beth
