The Inspiration of Oscar

This weekend was the opening of an incredible new exhibit at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston. The Glamour and Romance of Oscar de la Renta showcases inspiring designs from the long career of the creative genius. Running through January 28, the exhibit features over 60 dresses and designs that were part of de la Renta's personal archives, from the archives of his company and French label Pierre Balmain, as well as selections from private lenders and the museum's own collections.

I love finding new inspirations and ideas in showcases like this one - from the color combinations, to the fabrics and trims, to the exquisite detailing and craftsmanship. Even a sketch for a day dress can give me ideas for new interiors.

The exhibit has four themes, beginning with Spain, where he launched his career. And the final vignettes showcase gowns worn by fashion icons, dignitaries, and celebrities.

Run, don't walk, to this exhibit before it leaves Houston! It will leave you breathless.

Warmly,

Beth
