Inspired by: Ski Chalets

Believe it or not, ski season is on the way. It won’t be long before we are donning our scarves and hats and hitting the slopes. Not everyone loves to ski, but I’m betting most of us can appreciate the warm and cozy atmosphere of a gorgeous ski chalet. Today, we’re looking at some of the most inspiring designs from ski chalets. As you’ll see, the common thread among them all is rich, warm, wonderful wood.

This is one of the best chalet bedroom designs I’ve seen. Not a thing is missing—the large, stone fireplace, the cozy sitting area, romantic lighting, the cute bookshelf tucked into the corner. Simply stunning.

If you want an example of amazing wood ceilings, why look anywhere other than Bighorn Lodge in Revelstoke Mountain, British Columbia? The details in this room are just incredible and those beams will keep you looking up for days.

Here’s another take on the wood-and-stone combo: stone walls with a simple yet stunning wooden staircase. Elegant, homey and warm.

When you have an incredible view, whether it’s the slopes, the stars, or lovely rolling hills and sky, this alternating wood and glass mix is perfect for warming you up while letting in the light.

Super-high ceilings, wood, and windows all around—and I love the way the curved wooden ceiling umbrellas the matching staircases. A luxurious chalet that is a vacation dream home come true.

I designed this home in Telluride to take advantage of every gorgeous view – it might be hard to sleep in this bedroom with a stunning vista like that just outside!

How about you? Are you as charmed by chalets as I am? Find more to love on my Ski Chalet pinboard.
