Monday Inspiration: Timeless Classics
I love classic fashion and design. Coco Chanel is probably the definition of timeless classics now, but in her lifetime she was known for pushing the boundaries.
Her out-of-the-box style stripped women of corseted couture. Her fearlessness to literally put on the pants that other designers of her time shied away from made her a fashion icon and made Chanel a timeless brand.
Coco Chanel inspires me to create designs that are edgy but timeless. Coco’s habit of wearing suits or pants was a scandal, but for her to offer femininity in what had previously been a men’s-only look knocked down barriers and pushed the envelope for all designers.
Chanel also knew how to pair one of my favorite color combinations – black and gold. And she did it without it looking too garish or over-the-top glamorous. Keeping it simple and wowing people with sophistication is still the brand’s superpower.
Using classic colors and shapes in the home with proper editing can also make your space as beautiful and timeless as one of the most fabulous, enduring designers in the world.
